About Prenatal Massage And My Approach

Prenatal massage is a specialized therapeutic approach designed specifically to support your body through the rapid structural and hormonal changes of pregnancy; very different from a Swedish or deep tissue massage. As your baby grows, your center of gravity shifts, putting immense strain on your lower back, hips, and legs. Using safe, medium-pressure techniques and specialized side-lying positioning, I focus on alleviating sciatic nerve pain, reducing joint inflammation, and improving blood and lymphatic circulation to minimize swelling in your hands and feet.

This modality is essential for expecting mothers in their second and third trimesters who are struggling with sleep deprivation, round ligament tension, or overall physical fatigue. Pregnancy is incredibly demanding on your musculoskeletal system, and prenatal massage provides a safe, natural way to manage pain without relying on medications. It also actively lowers cortisol levels, shifting your nervous system into a relaxed state that benefits both you and your baby.

What makes my prenatal massage at Pinnacle Massage different from a generic chain spa is my unwavering focus on maternal safety and absolute comfort. I don't just ask you to lay on a standard table; I use a specialized maternity bolstering system with supportive body pillows to keep your spine aligned and ensure there is zero pressure on your abdomen. I listen to exactly where you are holding tension—whether it is a sharp ache in your hips or heavy, swollen calves—and adapt my techniques to provide genuine relief, ensuring you feel completely secure and cared for.

Navigating a St. George summer while pregnant is exhausting enough. Whether you are dealing with swollen feet from running errands down River Road or serious lower back aches that keep you awake at night, my studio provides a cool, quiet, and perfectly supported sanctuary for real relief.

Intake Process

We will begin with a quick check-in to discuss how far along you are and any specific aches you are experiencing. You will be positioned comfortably on your side, fully supported by specialized maternity pillows, and safely draped throughout the entire session. The pressure is customized to your preference, focusing on safe, soothing relief.

Contraindications: Prenatal massage is generally avoided during the first trimester due to the increased risk of miscarriage during this early developmental window. It is also contraindicated if you have a high-risk pregnancy, pre-eclampsia, pregnancy-induced hypertension, or a history of deep vein thrombosis (blood clots). I always recommend getting clearance from your OB-GYN or midwife prior to booking.
